Ubud as tourust destination

Ubud is, in most ways, the cultural center of Bali. Home to one of Bali’s royal families, this one traditional country village has imperial palaces and ancient sanctuaries. The town is moreover where some of the world’s remarkable craftsmans and hobbyists have visited and worked in. Along the main street are dozens of art studios and galleries, together with an outstanding local crafts market place offering vintages, woodcarvings, crafts, fabrics, art work, and jewelry. A short trip outside Ubud will take you to Tegenungan Waterfall, Ubud Monkey Forest, and the photogenic Tegallalang rice terrace. Join a day trip to local villages like Campuhan, Penestanan, Peliatan, and Batuan, where you can see locals making and selling authentic Balinese crafts.

Ubud is one of those destinations where a holiday of a several days can quickly transform into a stay of weeks, months or perhaps years. The scale of the town’s expat community attests to this, and so do the many stories and films that have been established here, creative responses to the irresisteble nature of this most cultured of all Balinese villages. This is a place where traditional Balinese culture suffuses every waking time, where vibrant offerings enhance the streets and where the charismatic strains of gamelan are an ever-present soundtrack to regular life. It’s also someplace that is often on-trend– an exhibit of renewable concept, mindfulness, culinary inventiveness and the finest that global tourism has to offer. Come here for relaxation, for revitalization and to have what may well be the most mystical getaway of your life.

8 suggested excursion activities you can try out today

1. Kecak Dance show

Ubud is popular for its traditional dance performances. We didn’t have very strong hopes but appreciated the Kecak dance we saw at the temple in Junjungan town.
Around 60 sarong-clad men give the soundtrack of spooking chants, while dancers recreate a story from the Ramayana. It is less hectic and business than the performances in the centre– all 150 families in the village are involved and proceeds go towards temple activities.

2. Do Yoga and fitness

Ubud is yogi heaven! Whether you favor hectic vinyasa or gentle yin, you’ll find a session to fit you. It’s the great place to make your own yoga retreat by getting an inexpensive multi-class pass.

3. Downhill Bike Tour

We don’t cycle regularly, however the Bali Eco Cycling tour was convenient– it was all downhill and we barely needed to pedal! We started with breakfast overlooking the volcano Mt Batur before cycling through the country side halting at a family compound, rice fields, and a 500-year-.

4. Monkey forest

The Monkey Forest belongs to the top Ubud attractions, but we were actually a little concerned about braving the famous monkeys. It became a satisfying walk through the forest with temples and banyan trees that thought that an Indiana Jones set.

Aware of the monkeys, though– they are thieves and may possibly be aggressive. We didn’t take a bag, sunglasses, or have something in our wallets (except cash to get in and my camera around my neck), and they didn’t trouble us.

Don’t offer them food — you will turn out with monkeys climbing all over you. This may sound fun, but rabies prevails in Bali, and if you get bitten or scraped (a common situation), you’ll need a number of injections.

5. Pura Gunung Kawi

This 11th-century temple features shrines carved into the rock at the end of a river valley. It’s a 30-minute drive from Ubud and is worth merging with Tirta Empul. Get there early to avoid the groups and souvenir sellers– at 8 am there were just two other visitors.

6. Tirta EmpuWater Temple

The water temple Tirta Empul is near to Gunung Kawi. Balinese Hindus go here to bathe in the spiritual waters.

7. Tegenungan Waterfall

The waterfall isn’t huge, still, the landscapes is beautiful, and we enjoyed a swim in the pool. Once again, get there early.

It’s a 25-minute trip from Ubud and can be combined with the Hidden Canyon. We didn’t make it down the canyon as it became more hardcore than we expected– come ready to clamber rocks and wade through waist-high water. It’s best to choose one of the local guides to reveal you the way.

8. Visit an Art Gallery.

Ubud is a very artistic town. You can head to lots of small workshops to get the artwork or larger art museums to learn about the history of art in Ubud. I delighted in the Balinese art at Neka Art Museum the most, despite the fact that the architecture at the Antonio Blanco Museum was certainly odd.

Actually, there are hundreds of more things that you can experience while you are in Ubud Bali.
