Ubud as tourust destination

Ubud is, in lots of ways, the ethnical center of Bali. House to one of Bali’s royal families, this particular traditional country area has royal palaces and historic holy places. The town is also where a few of the world’s notable craftsmans and enthusiasts have gone to and worked in. Also the main road are lots of art studios and galleries, in addition to a fantastic local crafts market offering vintages, woodcarvings, crafts, cloths, art work, and fine jewelry. A brief trip outside Ubud will get you to Tegenungan Waterfall, Ubud Monkey Forest, and the photogenic Tegallalang rice terrace. Participate in a field trip to local villages like Campuhan, Penestanan, Peliatan, and Batuan, where you can experience locals making and selling genuine Balinese crafts.

Ubud is one of those destinations where a holiday of a several days can quickly turn into a stay of weeks, months and even years. The size of the town’s expat community attests to this, and so do the many novels and videos that have been set here, creative responses to the irresistible nature of this most cultured of all Balinese villages. This is a place where traditional Balinese culture suffuses every waking moment, where vibrant offerings decorate the streets and where the meditative strains of gamelan are an ever-present soundtrack to day-to-day life. It’s also someplace that is relentlessly on-trend– a showcase of environmentally friendly creation, mindfulness, culinary inspiration and the absolute best that worldwide tourism has to offer. Come here for meditation, for rejuvenation and to have what may well be the most remarkable getaway of your life.

8 recommended outing activities you can try today

1. Kecak Dance event

Ubud is popular for its traditional dance performances. We didn’t have very strong expectations but adored the Kecak dance we saw at the temple in Junjungan town.
Around 60 sarong-clad men offer the soundtrack of haunting intonations, while dancers recreate a tale from the Ramayana. It is less busy and business than the performances in the centre– all 150 family members in the village are involved and proceeds go towards temple events.

2. Practice Yoga and fitness

Ubud is yogi wonderland! Whether you prefer fast-paced vinyasa or gentle yin, you’ll find a program to fit you. It’s the great place to make your own yoga retreat by getting an affordable multi-class pass.

3. Downhill Bike Expedition

We don’t cycle often, still, the Bali Eco Cycling tour was easy– it was all downhill and we rarely had to pedal! We began with breakfast overlooking the volcano Mt Batur before cycling through the country side halting at a family compound, rice fields, and a 500-year-.

4. Monkey forest

The Monkey Forest is among the top Ubud attractions, but we were a little worried about facing the famous monkeys. It ended up being an enjoyable exercise the forest with temples and banyan trees that seemed like an Indiana Jones set.

Be careful of the monkeys, though– they are thieves and can be bold. We didn’t take a bag, sunglasses, or have anything in our pockets (except cash to get in and my camera around my neck), and they didn’t trouble us.

Don’t give them food — you will turn out with monkeys climbing all over you. This may sound fun, but rabies prevails in Bali, and if you get bitten or damaged (a common occasion), you’ll need a number of injections.

5. Pura Gunung Kawi

This 11th-century temple features shrines created into the rock at the bottom of a river valley. It’s a 30-minute drive from Ubud and is worth merging with Tirta Empul. Get there early to avoid the crowds and souvenir sellers– at 8 am there were just 2 other visitors.

6. Tirta EmpuWater Temple

The water temple Tirta Empul is near to Gunung Kawi. Balinese Hindus go here to bathe in the divine waters.

7. Tegenungan Waterfall

The waterfall isn’t huge, yet the scenery is beautiful, and we had a swim in the pool. Once again, get there early.

It’s a 25-minute ride from Ubud and can be combined with the Hidden Canyon. We didn’t make it down the canyon as it turned out to be more hardcore than we expected– come ready to clamber rocks and wade through waist-high water. It’s best to hire one of the local guides to reveal you the way.

8. Visit an Art Gallery.

Ubud is an extremely artistic town. You can go to tons of small workshops to get the artwork or bigger art museums to learn about the history of art in Ubud. I took pleasure in the Balinese art at Neka Art Museum the most, though the architecture at the Antonio Blanco Museum was surely eccentric.

Literally, there are hundreds of more activities that you can explore while you are in Ubud Bali.
