Ubud as tourust destination

Ubud is, in lots of ways, the ethnical heart of Bali. Home to one of Bali’s imperial families, this traditional country place has imperial palaces and historical temples. The town is furthermore where a few of the world’s outstanding craftsmens and collectors have seen and worked in. Throughout the main road are dozens of art studios and galleries, along with an excellent local crafts market selling antiques, woodcarvings, crafts, cloths, paintings, and fine jewelry. A quick run outside Ubud will take you to Tegenungan Waterfall, Ubud Monkey Forest, and the photogenic Tegallalang rice terrace. Take part in a day trip to local villages like Campuhan, Penestanan, Peliatan, and Batuan, where you can discover locals making and selling authentic Balinese crafts.

Ubud is one of those destinations where a vacation of a few days can quickly become a stay of weeks, months or even years. The scale of the town’s expat community attests to this, and so do the many fictions and movies that have been set here, creative responses to the sexy nature of this most cultured of all Balinese towns. This is a place where traditional Balinese culture suffuses every waking moment, where vibrant offerings dress up the streets and where the charismatic strains of gamelan are an ever-present soundtrack to daily life. It’s also someplace that is often on-trend– an exhibit of ecological design, mindfulness, culinary inventiveness and the absolute best that worldwide tourism has to offer. Come here for leisure, for revitalization and to have what may well be the most mystical vacation of your life.

8 suggested trip activities you can try now

1. Kecak Dance show

Ubud is well-known for its traditional dance shows. We didn’t have very high expectations but enjoyed the Kecak dance we saw at the temple in Junjungan town.
About 60 sarong-clad men give the soundtrack of spooking chants, while dancers recreate a story from the Ramayana. It is less hectic and business than the performances in the centre– all 150 families in the village are involved and continues go towards temple events.

2. Do Yoga and fitness

Ubud is yogi heaven! No matter if you choose hectic vinyasa or soft yin, you’ll get a lesson to fit you. It’s the ideal place to make your own yoga retreat by buying an inexpensive multi-class pass.

3. Downhill Bike Tour

We don’t cycle frequently, still, the Bali Eco Cycling activity was easy– it was all downhill and we rarely had to pedal! We began with breakfast overlooking the volcano Mt Batur before cycling through the countryside halting at a family compound, rice fields, and a 500-year-.

4. Monkey forest

The Monkey Forest is among the top Ubud tourist attractions, but we were a little concerned about facing the famous monkeys. It became a satisfying exercise the forest with temples and banyan trees that thought that an Indiana Jones set.

Be careful of the monkeys, though– they are stealers and can be bold. We didn’t take a bag, sunglasses, or have anything in our pockets (except cash to get in and my camera around my neck), and they didn’t bother us.

Don’t offer them food — you will result in with monkeys climbing all over you. This may sound cool, but rabies prevails in Bali, and if you get bitten or damaged (a common occurrence), you’ll need a number of shots.

5. Pura Gunung Kawi

This 11th-century temple features shrines carved into the rock at the end of a river valley. It’s a 30-minute drive from Ubud and is worth combining with Tirta Empul. Arrive early to avoid the crowds and souvenir sellers– at 8 am there were just 2 other guests.

6. Tirta EmpuWater Temple

The water temple Tirta Empul is close to Gunung Kawi. Balinese Hindus go here to bathe in the divine waters.

7. Tegenungan Waterfall

The waterfall isn’t huge, still, the landscapes is marvelous, and we had a swim in the pool. Again, get there early.

It’s a 25-minute travel from Ubud and can be combined with the Hidden Canyon. We didn’t make it down the canyon as it turned out to be more hardcore than we anticipated– come ready to clamber rocks and wade through waist-high water. It’s best to choose one of the Balinese guides to present you the way.

8. Pay visit to Art Gallery.

Ubud is a very artsy village. You can visit tons of small shops to buy the artwork or larger art museums to learn more about the history of art in Ubud. I took pleasure in the Balinese art at Neka Art Museum the most, although the architecture at the Antonio Blanco Museum was surely eccentric.

Literally, there are numerous more things that you can experience while you are in Ubud Bali.
