Ubud as tourust destination

Ubud is, in most ways, the ethnical center of Bali. House to one of Bali’s royal families, this one traditional country place has imperial palaces and historical temples. The village is even where some of the world’s notable craftsmens and enthusiasts have gone to and worked in. Throughout the main street are hundreds of art studios and galleries, in addition to a fantastic local crafts market place offering vintages, woodcarvings, crafts, cloths, artworks, and fine jewelry. A short run outside Ubud will take you to Tegenungan Waterfall, Ubud Monkey Forest, and the photogenic Tegallalang rice terrace. Join a day trip to local villages like Campuhan, Penestanan, Peliatan, and Batuan, where you can view locals making and selling traditional Balinese crafts.

Ubud is one of those destinations where a holiday of a several days can quickly become a stay of weeks, months or maybe years. The scale of the town’s expat community attests to this, and so do the many novels and films that have been set here, creative responses to the irresistible nature of this most cultured of all Balinese towns. This is a place where traditional Balinese culture imbues every waking moment, where vibrant offerings adorn the streets and where the hypnotic strains of gamelan are an ever-present soundtrack to everyday life. It’s also somewhere that is often on-trend– an exhibit of eco friendly concept, mindfulness, culinary inventiveness and the very best that worldwide tourism has to offer. Come here for comfort, for revitalization and to have what may well be the most magical vacation of your life.

8 recommended excursion activities you can go for now

1. Kecak Dance show

Ubud is recognized for its traditional dance shows. We didn’t have very strong assumptions but appreciated the Kecak dance we saw at the temple in Junjungan town.
Around 60 sarong-clad men offer the soundtrack of haunting songs, while dancers recreate a story from the Ramayana. It is less hectic and commercial than the performances in the centre– all 150 families in the village are included and continues go towards temple activities.

2. Practice Yoga and fitness

Ubud is yogi nirvana! Whether you prefer fast-paced vinyasa or soft yin, you’ll find a program to match you. It’s the great place to create your own yoga retreat by buying an affordable multi-class pass.

3. Downhill Bike Trek

We don’t cycle frequently, however the Bali Eco Cycling excursion was effortless– it was all downhill and we rarely had to pedal! We began with breakfast overlooking the volcano Mt Batur before cycling through the countryside halting at a family compound, rice fields, and a 500-year-.

4. Monkey forest

The Monkey Forest belongs to the top Ubud tourist attractions, but we were a little concerned about braving the notable monkeys. It turned out to be a delightful walk through the forest with temples and banyan trees that felt like an Indiana Jones set.

Look out of the monkeys, though– they are stealers and can possibly be aggressive. We didn’t take a bag, sunglasses, or have something in our pockets (except cash to enter and my camera around my neck), and they didn’t trouble us.

Don’t give them food — you will end up with monkeys climbing all over you. This may sound cool, but rabies prevails in Bali, and if you get bitten or damaged (a common occasion), you’ll need a number of injections.

5. Pura Gunung Kawi

This 11th-century temple features shrines sculpted into the rock at the bottom of a river valley. It’s a 30-minute drive from Ubud and deserves merging with Tirta Empul. Get there quickly to avoid the crowds and souvenir sellers– at 8 am there were just two other visitors.

6. Tirta EmpuWater Temple

The water temple Tirta Empul is near to Gunung Kawi. Balinese Hindus go here to bathe in the holy waters.

7. Tegenungan Waterfall

The waterfall isn’t huge, but the landscapes is spectacular, and we enjoyed a swim in the pool. Again, arrive early.

It’s a 25-minute travel from Ubud and can be combined with the Hidden Canyon. We didn’t make it down the canyon as it turned out to be more serious than we expected– come prepared to climb rocks and wade through waist-high water. It’s best to hire one of the Balinese guides to present you the way.

8. Go to Art Gallery.

Ubud is an extremely artsy town. You can see tons of small studios to buy the artwork or bigger art museums to find out about the background of art in Ubud. I enjoyed the Balinese art at Neka Art Museum the most, though the architecture at the Antonio Blanco Museum was surely odd.

Actually, there are numerous more things that you can explore while you are in Ubud Bali.
